I'm so excited to talk to you today about one of my homes away from home - it's one of my favorite places to go.  If I'm feeling down I certainly always have to go to The Stirling Club.  It's magnificent.  It's luxurious.  It's just beyond, beyond beautiful .. and it always smells so good!  So I love to go work out there.  I love to have lunch there.  I love to hang there.   I love Kelly Clinton on Saturday nights there.
But why let me go on and on about it when I have the Executive Director of Memberships for beautiful, fabulous Stirling Club with me .. Kathleen Gustafson.  Hi Kathleen!

Kathleen  Hi Lark..

Lark:  Well how are you?  And tell everyone your version of The Stirling Club ..

Kathleen  Stirling Club is a private, exclusive club on Paradise Rd. just off the strip across from the LV Hilton.  A country club without the golf course -- a city club with all the amenities of a country club.  All our food and beverage is done by Charlie Palmer g..  clay tennis courts - very unique for LV - beautiful 30k sq ft spa
and a gym with all the latest equipment. 

Kelly Clinton is the entertainment director for the lounge so you can listen to Jazz or whoever she happens to have on the schedule.

Lark:  And there's always people dropping by so you never know who shows up to sit in with her.

Kathleen  You never know .. it's just one celebrity after another. 

Lark:  And then that beautiful pool which is just gorgeous.

Kathleen  Yeah, our pool is gorgeous and its great to sit out and get some sun.  And we have cocktails and we have a little grill out there so you can have a sandwich and just relax for the weekend or during the week. 

Lark:  And then there's a lot of conference rooms.  A lot of things are always going on at the Stirliing Club. 

Kathleen  Yeah, definitely.  We have a lot of  meeting space so it's great for companies that want to host a party or for our members who want to throw a party or have a birthday party.  So all of our meeting space is complimentary to our members.  It's a hit.

Lark:  Wow .. now do you do a lot of weddings there too?  I would think because it's such a beautiful setting but I don't know if you extend that as well.

Kathleen  We do.  We do probably two weddings a week.  Very popular for brides - it's just such a beautiful setting.

Lark:  Well you know, there's something just magical about it.  Even when you just drive right in and  off Paradise and drive in through the gates and enter valet.  It feels like you've just entered another world.  Which you have .. the world of the Stirling Club.

Kathleen  Yes, it's special.

Lark:  You feel so-oo special.  You absolutely do.  Now how long have you been working over there?

Kathleen  I've been here about 2 1/2 years.  And every day I drive in it feels so special too.  You know you come through the guard gate, drive up through the portico, the valet takes your car.  It's a very special experience for sure.

Lark:  And the decor .. and there's a special smell of the Stirling Club too .. *chuckle* ..

Kathleen  It is ..

Lark:  It's aromatic .. and the food there is excellent.  I love the Charlie Palmer lunch and the brunch and the dinners over there are wonderful.

Kathleen  Yes, we're really lucky ..

Lark:  And not everyone gets to experience the Stirling Club, but we've come up with something very special since I am a member of the Stirling Club .. and we would like to extend this during the holiday season for members of Lark's List.  Why don't you tell everyone what you came up with..

Kathleen  Yes, since Lark is a member, which is wonderful ... all of her friends and family can come to the club for as little as $163 a month - start a membership here.  The Social Membership comes with everything except the tennis courts and the workout room ... they can use the spa, all the restaurants, we have fashion shows, pool tournaments, wine maker dinners, kids arts class, special Thanksgiving buffets .. so there are a lot of things going on and we'd love to have you come over.

ladies down there and they do everyone's hair here.  They do all of our hair, nails and it's just wonderful .. and convenient.

Lark:  I came to the Tuesday night .. what do you call it . Industry night?

Kathleen  Oh, the Executive Lounge .. oh wonderful ..

Lark:  Yeah .. I had never done that before and now I think I'm going to be a regular over there on Tuesday nights.  It was very festive ..

Kathleen  Very nice .. Alot of young executives .. it's a great place to come and relax, network and it's really nice on Tuesday nights. 

Lark:  I don't really get out too much during the week like that, but a friend of mine who is also a member said "Oh come on .. you've got to come to the Tuesday night Executive Night.  And what is it on Thursdays .. is that the wine tasting? 

Kathleen  Sure, we have wine tastings, complimentary wine tastings for our members on Thursday nights as well as Wednesday nights, we have a member mixer where all of the residents come down and outside members and we have complimentary appetizers and drink specials and it's just a way to get together and visti and catch up .. it's a nice relaxing time.

Lark:  And everybody is so friendly there.

Kathleen  Very, very much so.

Lark:  I'm going to start coming to some of those night time events. 

Kathleen  Well, we'd love to have you.

Lark:  The fun that I have on Saturdays with Kelly .. cause you know I've known Kelly Clinton for over 20 years

Kathleen  Oh .. she's a doll.

Lark:  She's a kick in the pants and I told the story about Kelly recently made, I think it was in the interview you guys did with me, that years ago when I did  morning radio, first of all if you get to know Kelly she's extremely talented, funny, brilliant person.  But one thing she isn't is that she's not a morning person. 

Kathleen  Right.  *chuckle*

Lark:  And so, she had a band at the time that I was helping promote for her and Kelly also does impressions.  She does a great Cher, a great Joan Rivers and sometimes if I would have guests schedule that didn't show up during the early morning show which was drive time, I would call Kelly, wake her up and say I either need you to get down here or do something on the phone as somebody famous!  And she was such a good friend.  She always came through and became a regular guest and good friend of a lot of comedians that I had on like Sam Kinnison - everybody adored her.  I'd say "Kelly, it's radio.  Just put your hair in a pony tail. put some sunglasses on and get over here!"  *chuckle*   And so she would co-host with me in a pinch.  And so that is really a good friend but you could see when someone does radio when you have to be spontaneous and funny at that hour of the morning...

Kathleen  She's so funny.  She's great

Lark:  A very talented person.

Kathleen  When she does her hair she looks like Cher. 

Lark:  Oh yeah ..

Kathleen  Yeah, she's great.

Lark:  I remember years ago when she started we would sit and just joke around and she would say "who does it sound like?" and I'd say "who do you think it sounds like?"  As if I'm not going to recognize who Cher is.  *chuckle* But she makes it very special there on Saturday nights and that's just one of the fun things that you can experience at the Stirling Club  besides feeling so very special.
