Check your office set up for these ergonomic "do's"

Your Chair
- Should be high enough so your feet are flat, knees are at a 90 degree angle and thighs rest completely on the seat.  Slide your rear all the way back in order to make the most of the back support.

Your Desk - Your knees should slide just a few inches underneath.  This allows you to reach your keyboard with your forearms level to the ground, your elbows bent at 90 degrees, and  your shoulders relaxed!

Your Monitor - The center of your monitor should be at or just below eye level to avoid neck strain.  You may need to slide a phone book underneath the monitor to raise it.

  • Your Keyboard - Your wrists should be straight (not bent back or forward) w hile typing in order to hel avoid Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  Your wrist angle can be changed by using all the setups we mentioned above, or using a wrist support pad at the edge of the keyboard.  The primary cause of CTS is more often caused by a malposition of the vertebrae in the neck putting pressure on the nerves running to your hand.  This is termed "Double Crush Syndrome" and is fixed with gentle spinal corrections.

Most injuries and pain in your body are due to body imbalance, a twisted spine that puts pressure on the nervous system.  You can check yourself for body imbalance by looking in the mirror for these signs:

  • Is one shoulder higher or lower than the other?
  • Is your head tilted (look for a higher ear)?
  • Put your hands on your hips to see if they feel uneven.

These body imbalance that can be remedied with gentle spinal corrections.
