Kassie Smith, owner of Design Center West designed the new kitchen. Her goal for this makeover was to create a more functional and updated space. The design and product choices accomplished these goals.

Lack of storage space was a huge problem for Dana, our homeowner. It was evident upon our first visit and seeing all the items on her counter that she needed us to create more storage space. The next issue was lighting. A storage cabinet blocked the only window that brought in natural light into the room. It was also obvious that we needed to update the entire look of the kitchen. Finally we needed to relocate the appliances, the refrigerator was somewhat blocking the traffic pattern into the room.

The design plan called for building cabinetry around the window to let in natural light and give the kitchen added storage space on all walls. To achieve this we also needed to relocate the appliances to different areas in the room. Finally A new color pallet was selected of lighter paint, interesting granite with hues of gold, natural maple cabinets and light ceramic tile.
